For the modem to dial the number as a local (7-digit number), the area code here must match the area code in the Properties window.

"To access an outside line, first dial:" ... Both these boxes should be left blank unless the customer is at a business or hotel, for example, where he must dial a 9 to access an outside line. If you want the modem to wait for a dial tone before continuing to dial, use 9W. Commas also can be added anywere in a phone number to add a 1 sec pause per comma.

If the customer has call waiting on the line his modem will be dialing with, check the "This location has call waiting..." box and select the appropriate code from the drop down list. The code will vary depending on which phone company he is with.

"Dial as long distance call" should not be checked.
